Prairie State Tandem Rally

Dates          Friday June 13, Sat. June 14, & Sun. June 15, 2008
Where          Woodstock, Illinois

Welcome
     If you missed the original
“Woodstock” then you won’t want to miss this event as we roll into Woodstock IL for a weekend of “Peace, Love, & Memories."  Some of us are old enough to remember the “first” Woodstock & just maybe this weekend will also be a “happening”.
Our Woodstock here in Illinois is just a little bit older than the other Woodstock as it was established in 1852 and as a result has a great number of old historic homes that show the years of growth & the different styles of architecture.
The Woodstock Square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places & features two historic structures, The Opera House & the Sheriffs House complex.
The Opera House is a Romanesque style structure built in 1889, & was once the city hall, library, & fire department. but when operating as a theater hosted such notables at Orson Welles & Paul Newman, and it is still active today.
The Old Court House is an Italianate style structure built in 1857 & is similar to the Chicago Court House that was destroyed in the Chicago Fire in 1853.  The Sheriffs house & Jail were added in 1887 & the complex now hosts restaurants, art gallery & craft shops.
The Woodstock Square is in itself a joy to see.  Filled with two gazeboes, trees & surrounded by brick streets, it will take you back in time. Who knows you might even recognize it from the movie Ground Hog Day starring Bill Murray.
All of our Saturday routes come back right through the town, circle the square & give you plenty of time to stop at the many little shops, cafes, etc.  So give it a try, come & relax with us in Woodstock, IL see how much you might like the small home town feeling & irregardless,
Peace.
